So much to say

Well it has been quite a week. A lot to go over.

I stated in my weekly notes how I felt sorry for Maurice Clarett. I still do. Some might say he is a lazy, no good, spoiled primadonna. I agree. He is.

But to see how far down you can go just makes me feel sorry for you. It does.

Who do I blame for his mistakes? Most of it goes to him. He had no work ethic. No desire to go to class at Ohio State. Most college athletes don't care about the academics anyway, which explains why some get degrees in public recreation or diverse studies. But man at least take the exams or go to class and be a physicial presence.

Also the alochol abuse he endured is the main reason for his fall. The huge layoff from playing football ultimately did it for him. Maybe he uses the time in prison to sober up.

But I feel Ohio State is covering up more than they let on. I am sure they gave the special privilege to Clarett to do what he pleases. The problem was that when he was caughgt, to save the integrity of the University, I feel they blackballed him, tried to make him out to be a troublemaker, damage his credibility, and pretty much let him go loose. I wonder how many sleepless nights Jim Tressel has had since the Clarett arrest.

The NFL also is to blame for its policy. They are within the right to do what they did because the union decided upon the age limit to go into the NFL. By that, it is protected and cannot be considered them denying the right to a job. There is Arena football you know and minor league football. I obviously want the NFL to continue this policy because I do not want the college football to become watered down talent like college basketball and for the NFL to have stars who can't play becaue they do not know fundamentals (NBA).

Still they did deny Clarett entry and who knows if he would be in the kind of trouble he is in now. He would probably be a discipline problem, immature and feel he is above the system but he may not be hanging around mobsters or be heading to prison.

But what is done is done.
